The Lagotto Romagnolo is a rustic and ancient breed of water dogs. They originally served as hunting and retrieving dogs in the marshes of Romagna, Italy. When the marshes were drained, the Lagotto found a new purpose thanks to its extraordinary sense of smell and is now known as the Truffle Hunting Dog.
Le Lagotto Romagnolo est chien d'eau rustique de race ancienne. À l'origine, il chassait et rapportait le gibier dans les marais de la Romagne en Italie. Avec l'assèchement des marais, le Lagotto a trouvé une nouvelle vocation grace à son odorat exceptionnel : le cavage. Il est maintenant connu mondialement comme le Chien Truffier.
The Lagotto excels at all scent sports and work and is very good at scent discrimination. The Lagotto loves to learn and needs to have a job. Although many individuals will be happy as companions, most need a job or an activity to keep their brains active. They love Tricks, Scent Sports and Work (Barn hunt, Search and Rescue, Truffling, Antlering, Hunting), Agility, Hoopers, Freestyle dancing, Obedience, Dock diving, Therapy and Service Work.
Le Lagotto excelle dans tous les sports et travaux de détection. Le Lagotto adore apprendre et a besoin de travailler. Le Lagotto est un très bon compagnon qui apprécie qu'on lui confie des tâches ou des activités qui nécessitent de la réflexion. Il adore les Tricks, les sports et le travail de détection et de pistage (Barn Hunt, Recherche et sauvetage, cavage, recherche de bois de cerfs, chasse), agilité, Hoopers, danse freestyle, obéissance, Dock diving, zoothérapie, service.
The Lagotto believes he/she is a full fledged family member and expects to be treated as one. The Lagotto loves to please, is a happy dog and a great family dog. He will get along well with other pets if introduced early and instructed on proper behaviour.
The Lagotto enjoys exercise but needs regular brainwork.
Le Lagotto est un membre à plein titre de sa famille et s'attend à être reconnu comme tel. Le Lagotto adore plaire, c'est un chien heureux très attaché à sa famille. Il s'entend bien avec d'autres animaux si présenté tôt et instruit sur le bon comportement. Le Lagotto aime l'exercice, mais a davantage besoin de faire régulièrement travailler son cerveau.
